The problem
Remittance is a trust product. Someone sending money home wants to know the exact rate, the exact fee and the exact amount that lands — before committing. Hide any of it and they abandon the transfer.
What I did
- Put the live exchange rate, fee and total cost on screen together, updating as the amount changes, so nothing is revealed late.
- Made the send/receive pairing the centre of the interface — you type what you send, you immediately see what they get.
- Designed card and bank payment paths side by side, with the reassurance that the card isn't charged until the total is confirmed.
- Kept receive-method and mobile-money-partner selection in the same card as the money, rather than pushing them to another step.
Outcome
A remittance flow where the number that matters — what actually arrives in Ethiopia — is visible from the first interaction.
